Depart for Matakana then a lunch and tour at the world-class Sculptureum. Then continue onto Whangarei on the scenic route via Mangawhai and Langs Beach. Stay Distinction Whangarei (1 night).
MON 08 APR - WHANGAREI/KERIKERI/PAIHIA B,D
Tour the Hundertwasser Art Centre and then to Kerikeri where we stop for lunch (own expense). In the afternoon we tour Kemp House & Stone Store followed by a visit to Makana Confections before we head to Paihia. Stay Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge (2 nights)
TUE 09 APR - BAY OF ISLANDS SIGHTSEEING B,D
After breakfast, we visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a private guided tour, cultural show and time to explore the museum. We stop for lunch (own expense) and this afternoon we head out on the fabulous Cape Brett ‘’Hole in the Rock Dolphin ’’ Cruise.
WED 10 APR - PAIHIA/RUSSELL/TAIPA BEACH B,L,D
Today we take the ferry over to Russell for free time. Lunch at the historic Duke of Marlborough and later we take a leisurely drive to Taipa via Doubtless Bay and Mangonui. Stay Taipa Beach Resort (2 nights).
THU 11 APR - CAPE REINGA DAY TRIP B,L,D
Depart for the magical full-day excursion to Cape Reinga including a drive down the sands of Ninety Mile Beach. Lunch is included.
FRI 12 APR - TAIPA/OMAPERE B,L,D
Depart for the Southern Hokianga. Stop at Rawene for lunch at the delightful waterfront Boatshed Cafe. This afternoon visit Manea Footprints of Kupe, a 75-minute multi-sensory journey of guided storytelling. Early evening take a guided encounter with Tane. Stay The Sands Hotel Hokianga (1 night).
SAT 13 APR - OMAPERE/MATAKOHE/AUCKLAND B
This morning we say farewell to the Hokianga and travel back via the Waipoua Forest with a visit to Kai Iwi Lakes. We stop for lunch in Dargaville (own expense) and then continue to the Kauri Museum in Matakohe. Arrive back in Auckland mid-afternoon.
