For more than 30 years, Simon Dallow was the calm, familiar voice at the end of the New Zealand day. As presenter of 1News at Six, he became part of the furniture in living rooms across the country – professional, reassuring, and always a little bit of a storyteller. When he signed off from TVNZ in late 2025, it wasn’t to slow down. It was to get back to something he loved long before the news desk: travel.
Few people know that Simon’s first career after law school was as a tour director in Europe. In his twenties he spent years showing travellers the great cities and countryside of the continent, and he has never lost that spark.

He has the presence of someone Kiwis already feel they know, the curiosity of a journalist who has spent a lifetime asking good questions, and the practical warmth of a host who understands that a great journey is about people as much as places.
