ITINERARY

WED 08 APR - AUCKLAND/DARGAVILLE/WAIPOUA FOREST/ KAITAIA (D)

Travel north via Matakohe and enjoy visit to the Kauri Museum. Continue via Dargaville to the Waipoua Forest, home to some of New Zealand's oldest and most magnificent kauri trees where you will visit 'Tane Mahuta' - the largest known standing kauri tree. Travel north via Omapare, Opononi and Rawene. Arrive at the Orana Motor Inn Kaitaia where you will stay for the next two nights.

THU 09 APR - CAPE REINGA EXCURSION  (B,L,D)

Enjoy a day excursion from Kaitaia with Harrisons Cape Runner via 90 Mile Beach, including picnic lunch at Tapotupotu Bay. Witness the meeting of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the Three Kings Islands and the famous pohutakawa tree where the Maori believe spirits depart for the ancestral home - Hawaiki. Visit the white silica sands of the East Coast and Houhora Heads and the Ancient Kauri Kingdom at Awanui.

FRI 10 APR - KAITAIA/DOUBTLESS BAY/PAIHIA/CAPE BRETT CRUISE  (B,D)

This morning depart Kaitaia and travel to Paihia via Doubtless Bay and Mangonui. Enjoy an afternoon Cape Brett ‘Hole in the Rock’ Dolphin Cruise in search of dolphins and other marine life.  Journey to the end of the Cape Brett Peninsula to the famous Hole in the Rock on Motukokako Island. Enjoy a stop at Urupukapuka Island to relax or walk to the top of the island. Stay at Kingsgate Hotel Autolodge, Paihia for the next two nights.

SAT 11 APR - BAY OF ISLANDS SIGHTSEEING  (B,D)

Visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a guided tour and time to explore the museum. Enjoy a local sightseeing tour of the Bay of Islands and surrounds including nearby Haruru Falls, Kerikeri and a guided tour of Kemp House and access to the museum in the Stone Store. View the Heritage Gardens and casual lunch in Kerikeri (own expense). This afternoon enjoy a visit to Russell for sightseeing and time at leisure.

SUN 12 APR - PAIHIA/WHANGAREI/AUCKLAND  (B)

Depart Paihia and enjoy a stop at Whangarei Town Basin. Continue to Auckland via Marsden Point and scenic coastal loop road via Waipu, Mangawhai and Kaiwaka.
